Dead Island 2 confirms gamescom 2022 return, date and gameplay

The insiders and Amazon had sold the wick a few days earlier: Dead Island 2 will indeed make its return almost 8 years following its first announcement. It was indeed during the Opening Night Live of gamescom 2022 that the game resurfaced, with the promise of a release set for February 3, 2023 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One and even Stadia . As we already knew, it was the Dambuster studio (Homefront The Revolution) that picked up the project following passing through many hands (Techland, Yager, Sumo Digital). To mark the occasion, Deep Silver has planned two new videos, one in cinematic to remember the crazy atmosphere of the game, and to get to know Jacob, one of the playable characters who wakes up in a villa in Beverly Hills. The second video is a gameplay sequence to show us the evolutions made since 2014. In truth, the game has not changed significantly, we find this Action-RPG in subjective view where we will have to knock out the zombie a little slow and gorged of blood.

The story will therefore always take place on the side of Los Angeles, where the city was placed in quarantine while the army withdrew to leave the survivors and the few immune to fend for themselves. As usual, we will have to make makeshift weapons to try to understand who is at the origin of this virus. As the gameplay trailer shows, Dead Island 2 is intended to be a game where you fight with bladed weapons, crafted if possible, so that the massacre of zombies is seen in close-up. However, there are also firearms, such as assault rifles, shotguns, so that the damage hurts the zombie enemy. As in 2014, the game relies on a wide variety of undead, no less than 6 playable characters with distinct characteristics, each with their own personality and dialogues. We hope that the wait will not have been in vain following all these years, and while waiting for February 3, 2023, we can watch the CGI trailer which offers the Hollywood Swinging of Kool And The Gang in the background.
