For Professor Marc Bühlmann, “transparency will lead to a professionalization of Swiss politics”

Swiss political life will shift into a new era on October 23. The financing of parties and campaigns will then obey transparency rules that the Federal Council published on Wednesday. All donations over 15,000 francs must be communicated. Anonymous donations will be prohibited, as will those from abroad, except for holders of a Swiss passport. A voting or election campaign for the National Council with a budget of more than 50,000 francs must submit its accounts for verification.
