Blackout: Customers stand in shops without lights – widespread power failure in Zurich

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

There was a power failure in the Wollishofen and Enge districts on Friday evening, as reported by several news scouts. Telecommunications are also disrupted. The traffic lights don’t work. “There is panic in the neighborhood,” writes one reader.

The electricity companies report on their website that on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 5:42 p.m., an 11kV fault occurred in the Wollishofen/Leimbach Seestrasse area. The cause is still unknown. When asked for 20 minutes, it was said that the on-call service had called out and was working flat out to find a solution.
