Analysis: Citizen survey as an energy boost for wind power in Carinthia

The referendum was clear: almost 70 percent of Reichenfels residents are in favor of the construction of the Peterer Alpe wind farm. Kelag wants to set up eight wind turbines here, and 19,000 households are to be supplied with electricity. The result also has something to do with the energy crisis, says Mayor Manfred Führer (ÖVP): “People worry regarding where the electricity comes from. It is important to them that it comes from home and that they are no longer dependent on expensive imports .”
