Apple has not yet commented on possible battery problems in iOS 16. The company just recently released a mini-update to iOS 16.0.2 to the public without mentioning a potential battery life improvement. The next major update to iOS 16.1 is currently still in beta testing.
What exactly causes the iPhone battery to drain quickly is not yet known. A connection with certain apps is also possible. You can check this possibility in the settings of your iPhone. Under “Settings / Battery” you will find an overview of which apps use how much capacity.
