“Slight accident” for the Acura LMDh and Blomqvist at Road Atlanta

Tom Blomqvist didn’t really have time to celebrate his IMSA title after Meyer Shank Racing won the 25th edition of Petit Le Mans on Saturday 1 October. After a day off on Sunday, the 28-year-old British-Swedish returned to the track at Road Atlanta (Georgia) on Monday. He shares the wheel of the new No. 60 Acura ARX-06 with Matt McMurry, engineer-driver who had already driven the LMDh of the North American branch of Honda during his first runs with Wayne Taylor Racing.

The IMSA has thus organized a joint test session for the manufacturers who will be entering the new GTP category in 2023 (Acura, BMW, Cadillac, Porsche). Only Porsche declined the invitation to this non-compulsory three-day session and the three other manufacturers have therefore been filing the Georgian asphalt since Monday morning. A first day during which Tom Blomqvist made a mistake with the Acura. “We had a minor accident on the #60 Meyer Shank Racing ARX-06 GTP on Monday afternoon during testing at Road Atlanta”confirmed to us the premium brand of Honda.

Contacted by AUTOhebdo, Acura assured us that Tom Blomqvist was not injured in this accident.
