Over 100 countries have been affected by this year’s global outbreak of monkeypox. The first infections were reported in Austria in May, and the vaccination program finally started in September. Now a new variant that has appeared in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is causing concern: infections with it appear to be more fatal.
