In recent years, the number of Venezuelans crossing the Darién jungle has been increasing. According to figures from the Panamanian authorities, cited by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), In the first two months of 2022, some 2,500 Venezuelans crossed this route, a number that almost exceeds the 2021 total (2,819).
