Jakarta: Indonesia has decided to demolish the stadium where 131 people died in a stampede during a football match. President Joko Widodo announced that Kanjuruhan Stadium will be rebuilt with adequate security facilities. The reconstruction will be completely as per ‘FIFA’ instructions. He said that the way the game is regulated in the country needs to change drastically. Indonesia is all set to host the 2023 Under-20 World Cup.

Indonesia Stadium witnessed the tragedy that shocked the world on the first of this month. As the spectators were regarding to leave the stadium, there was a rush. The investigation report released last week stated that the police used tear gas to disperse the people and led to the accident. Fifa has banned the use of tear gas on spectators. Criminal charges have been filed once morest six people including police officers in the incident.

There were many other allegations in the investigation report, such as allowing more people in the stadium, blocking the exits, changing the game at night to increase television ratings.
