won the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament at Dreamhack Atlanta. In the Single Brackets final, a one-on-one match, ApolloKage, , whose full last name was not disclosed by the organizer, defeated Steven “Anathema” Acosta 3-1.
“I feel fantastic,” he said in the post-match interview. His broad smile anticipated the summary – and contrasted with the stoic expression and the heavy breathing during the game.
Although ApolloKage only lost in round two. But throughout the game, only one wrong keystroke separated him and Anathema from victory or defeat.
According to commentator Charles Thoren, ApolloKage’s unique play of the character Snake was key to its success: “ApolloKage is incredibly creative and uses every tool in Snake’s repertoire. It seems like his options are endless.”
Both finalists automatically qualified for the Panda Cup final. The conclusion of the Major tournament series featuring Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Melee will take place December 16-18 in Los Angeles
