The Central Bank of Egypt has finally approved the “Dot for Electronic Development and Electronic Payments” company to issue the “Clever” prepaid card and application in Egypt, in coordination with the Arab African International Bank, which reinforces the Central Bank’s long-term strategy to expand financial inclusion, and the launch of these services comes In line with the state’s vision 2030 to achieve a digital transformation that enables all citizens to obtain the financial services that suit them, according to a statement issued by the majority shareholder of Orascom Financial Holding, today, Monday.

Onsi Sawiris, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Orascom Financial Holding, Onsi Sawiris, said in the statement that the willingness shown by Egyptian youth to provide emerging financial technology services provides an opportunity for the Clever application to become part of the Central Bank’s vision to expand financial inclusion, in addition to paving the way for us to compete. at the regional and global level.

The Clever smart application also offers users many advantages, including the issuance of a free prepaid card for use online and in stores, as well as withdrawals from ATMs inside or outside Egypt. The application also provides an integrated payment method in one click without the need for Having a bank account.

For his part, Nils Bechler, Chairman of the Clever Board of Directors, stated that the first goal of issuing the Clever app and card is to participate in the work to improve the digital transformation of the Egyptian economy, which is in line with the Central Bank’s strategy towards achieving financial inclusion by providing smart payment solutions. And fast, indicating that the service is still in the testing phase before it is offered to customers.

In a related context, the Assistant Managing Director and CEO of Group Operations and Bank Transformation at the Arab African International Bank, Haitham Al-Maairji, said, “Our partnership with the Central Bank of Egypt and Clever Company to issue this service is in line with the bank’s strategy to achieve technological development and provide banking services that meet the needs of different customers.” .
