The Rouge et Or welcomed as a hero with the Vanier Cup in hand

The Rouge et Or players were welcomed as heroes tonight. Supporters, friends and family members cheered them on at the Quebec International Airport.

The champions exited the plane around 8:40 p.m. and met people with their arms in the air, some with Vanier cups.

Two buses were waiting for the players, who were to head to the Telus Stadium before celebrating their triumph in the Old Capital.

“We have a week to celebrate,” laughed Nicolas Thibodeau, a player who was playing his last game with the Rouge et Or.

The fans on site were still on the adrenaline of the ultimate match won by their favorites.

“It is important to come and congratulate them. These are young people who have made a lot of sacrifices in their lives, it’s nice to win, we thank them, ”said Françoise Baron, who has had her season ticket for more than 20 years.

Live at the Videotron Center

Even though the Canadian university football final was taking place in Ontario, around 10,000 people at the Videotron Center were able to experience the final moments of the game live.

Further on, Rodrigue Rioux takes off his Rouge et Or cap to show it off to another early supporter.

“Look I have 10 stars for the 10 Vanier Cups, I will be able to add another,” he mentioned while the famous song We Are the Champions still thrilled the crowd.

Stressed supporters

The Remparts organization hit the bullseye by showing the Rouge et Or final on the giant screen at the Videotron Center before the Red Devils game, which started at 4:30 p.m.

In the fourth quarter, while the Remparts players were on the ice for the warm-up period, the spectators were glued to the screens, reacting to each good move by the Université Laval representatives.
