World AIDS Day: 93 HIV diagnoses in Saxony in 2021

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

In Saxony, 93 people received an HIV diagnosis last year. That is 24 percent more than in 2020, as the Ministry of Health announced on World AIDS Day on December 1st. The goal of defeating AIDS is far from being achieved, said Minister Petra Köpping (SPD). The Free State has supported the work of the AIDS organizations and the health authorities over the past two years with a good one million euros. We want to continue that.

People with HIV who are treated are no longer infectious and the onset of AIDS is prevented. However, due to ignorance, they are repeatedly subjected to discrimination.
