THE ESSENTIAL
- The booster vaccination is open to all people aged 18 and over, from three months following the last injection or the last infection with Covid-19, recalls the government site Santé.fr
- People over the age of 60, adults at risk of a severe form of Covid-19, pregnant women and relatives of vulnerable or immunocompromised people are eligible for a second booster shot.
“Pharmacists, doctors, nurses are all mobilized”ensures the Directorate General of Health (DGS) in West France to encourage the French to get vaccinated once morest Covid-19 with new vaccines.
The reminder of the anti-Covid vaccine is essential to protect the most fragile
Indeed, Covid-19 still causes hospitalizations and deaths and the new vaccination booster campaign launched at the beginning of October was poorly followed. A situation that is all the more dangerous since, at the same time, “theBronchiolitis remains very present and the influenza epidemic is progressing rapidly, requiring increased vigilance from everyone to protect those most at risk of severe forms and to preserve the health system.“, noted the High Authority for Health.
On Friday December 9, 2022, during a press conference, the Minister of Health François Braun had stressed that only “2.8 million people have been vaccinated once morest Covid-19 since the beginning of October. (…) The French are less well protected this year (…) I solemnly call for a jump in vaccination”.
The booster shot is available from local health professionals
With the approach of the end-of-year celebrations, there is an increase in the rate of vaccinations. Thus, approximately 400,000 reminders were made between Monday December 5 and Thursday December 8, indicates the DGS which wants to be reassuring. “There are fewer and fewer vaccination centers open, but this is not a problem because vaccination is available in a large number of places thanks to city medicine”.
You can find the list of all health professionals authorized to vaccinate on the government website Sante.fr : “More than 16,000 pharmacies have ordered doses of vaccine over the last month and are therefore involved in vaccination; 96% of the population has access to one of these pharmacies less than 5 kilometers from their home”assures the DGS.
