Kandersteg, its mountains and its two federal councilors

How might a village of 1350 inhabitants, Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland, have two federal councilors in less than 40 years? This is the question that all the media were asking themselves on this day of celebration in honor of the newly elected Albert Rösti. In this very steep-sided town, the response, almost unanimous among the inhabitants, rang out: “The mountains”!
