Under the presumed responsibility in the crime of trafficking in war ammunition, four subjects received imprisonment at the request of the Public Ministry (MP).
The sentence fixed their confinement in the Monagas Judicial Confinement Center, also known as “La Pica”, located in the city of Maturín.
According to the investigation, officials of the Monagas Municipal Police (Polimonagas) found the capture of the quartet on December 1, 2022, in the Santa Inés sector.
The agents carried out patrol work in the San Simón parish, when they received a complaint regarding a criminal group that operated through extortion in the area.
Given the story, in which the location and clothing of the alleged criminals were revealed, the police located the suspects and proceeded to a body inspection.
“At that time, only one of them was found with a clandestinely manufactured facsimile.
However, not far from the scene of the events, a school bag containing four shotgun shells, Gaus brand and .12 caliber was found; in addition to four other shells from Cavim brand shotguns”, specified the web portal of the MP.
During the operation, 23 lead ammunitions and another container with war material were also seized.
The four men were immediately apprehended and brought before the MP, with flagrante delicto.
So the criminal process began, which led to the presentation hearing and the charge for the crime of illegal arms trafficking and criminal association.
