four variants with an 11.9MP Sony sensor, from $25

The foundation has just announced a new optical sensor for its microcomputer. As for the second version, Raspberry Pi remains with Sony for the sensor, with an IMX708.

It can take photos in 4608 x 2592 pixels (1.40μm) and film up to 1080p at 50 fps and 480p at 120 fps. Another interesting novelty: the Camera Module 3 is equipped with autofocus (a demonstration video has been on-line).

No less than four versions are available: visible or infrared light and, each time, with classic vision ($25) or wide angle ($35). Full details and a comparative table of all Modules are available here.

Finally, the foundation indicates that its High Quality Camera is now available in a new variant with an M12 version for the optics instead of the C(S).
