Today, Monday, the Ministry of Planning announced that the next stage will witness the resumption of work on lagging projects, while confirming the trend to complete 8 hospitals in Baghdad.
The ministry’s spokesman, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The lagging projects are distributed in various industrial and agricultural sectors, transportation, communications, buildings and services, and regional development projects that the governments in the provinces are looking forward to implementing.”
He added that “the completion rates of lagging projects are different and were classified into two categories, the first with a completion rate of less than 10%, and the second with a completion rate higher than 10% until it reaches very advanced stages of completion.” With the need to find solutions and solutions for these projects, the Ministry of Planning conducted a round of research and discussions about lagging projects with the beneficiaries, for the purpose of identifying the reasons for stopping work, as well as finding possible solutions and remedies to resume work on these projects.
He continued, “The discussions lasted two months, resulting in procedures that were reached with the concerned authorities, and took into consideration, first, the importance of service and development projects for each project, secondly the completion and implementation rates for these projects, thirdly the ability of the concerned authorities who own the projects to complete the work, fourthly the financial cost that Fifthly, the percentage of extinction in these projects, as some of these projects have been suspended for many years.
He pointed out that “the focus will be on projects of a service nature, such as hospitals, schools, water projects and sanitation projects, which are a priority,” noting that “the focus today is on improving the level of services, which is stated in the government program.”
He pointed out, “There is a committee formed according to Diwani Order 45 headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning Muhammad Ali Tamim, whose mission is to review the reality of lagging and suspended hospitals and to address the problems facing these projects.”
He continued by saying: “The committee held a meeting during the past few days, during which it studied the reality of hospitals, and stressed the need to complete 8 hospitals in the capital, Baghdad, and other hospitals in some governorates, while creating the appropriate environment and conditions, in addition to completing hospitals with advanced completion rates that reach more than 90%.
As for the lagging school buildings, he explained that “there are procedures to activate work in the stalled and lagging schools,” explaining that “the next stage will witness the resumption of work in many of these projects after taking the measures and identifying the reasons that were an obstacle to the continuation of work on them.”
