Dominic Thiem clearly lost his opening game at the Australian Open on Tuesday. The 29-year-old lost to the Russian Andrei Rublev 3: 6, 4: 6, 2: 6. After a good first set at a high level and missed break chances at the beginning of the second round, Thiem had to be treated by a physiotherapist for pain in his left rib area. The examination took place off the field in the dressing room, the game was interrupted for around eight minutes.
