You were recently presented with the cry from the heart of a single mother. His handicapped daughter must have surgery in Quebec. She asked for financial assistance to accompany her. But the government would have refused him. The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity reacted.
By e-mail, the ministry underlined that the living expenses incurred by an escort accompanying a patient during his transport can be reimbursed, when the state of health of the patient requires the presence of such an escort during the trip.
Financial assistance may be granted up to a maximum of $250 for the same trip. The ministry took steps with the mother. For her part, the woman is still awaiting confirmation from the government.
