American scientists are trying to revive the dodo, this flightless bird that disappeared at the end of the 17th century.
This species lived mainly on Mauritius in the Indian Ocean and disappeared shortly after the arrival of settlers.
The team of scientists wants to resuscitate the animal thanks to the sequencing of its genome.
To do this, the experts will compare the genetic information with birds close to the dodo and then mix them.
This project will serve to protect animal species that are in danger of extinction due to climate change.
If the project works, the team of scientists does not rule out the possibility of recreating the mammoth and the Tasmanian wolf.
