Kane remarkably celebrated his goal
“I’m still waiting to score a lot of goals,” said Tottenham player Harry Kane, following he scored the goal of his team’s victory over Manchester City, to overtake former Tottenham player Jimmy Greaves and become the team’s all-time top scorer.
The England captain scored 267 goals for his team, in all different competitions, the most recent of which was his goal on Sunday, once morest Manchester City.
Kane, 29, is still looking to break Alan Shearer’s record, the Premier League’s all-time top scorer, who scored 260 goals in this tournament.
“Alan has set the record, which everyone is looking forward to breaking, and I will see what I can do,” Kane said.
Kane has scored 200 goals in all his Premier League matches so far.
Kane added, “I’m sure he – Shearer – will monitor the situation, but I’m not sure whether he will be happy regarding that or not. I still have a lot of goals to score, and I feel good.”
“Scorers are always greedy,” former Bournemouth, Brighton and Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray told the BBC. “He will go for more goals and the man who will control his imagination will be Alan Shearer, I imagine.”
As for Graves, he started playing for Chelsea, before moving to Tottenham, and scored 266 goals for him, in various competitions, during 379 games, between 1961 and 1970.
While Kane scored his 267 goals in 416 games in which he participated with the team since joining in 2011.
After the City game, Keane told the BBC, “When you look at the names, who was there to have the possibility of overtaking Jimmy Greaves, one of the greatest players in the history of the game, I’m just so grateful.”
Kane is the third most goals-scoring player in the history of the Premier League, in its modern form, since its inception in 1992, following Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney, who scored 208 goals.
Kane has scored 17 goals so far this season, in the English Premier League, and 19 goals in all competitions, 11 goals ahead of the team’s second top scorer, the South Korean, Son Heung-min.
Kane is now equal, with Wayne Rooney, as the most scored player for the English national team in history, with 53 goals, which means that he will be the only historic scorer for England with the first goal he scores.
Kane received congratulations from his colleagues on his achievement, following the final whistle, and he also received a congratulatory call from the Italian coach, Antonio Conte, who missed the match due to a bladder operation. “You made me feel proud,” Conte told Kean during the call.
Despite Kane’s scoring success, he is still waiting to win a major tournament title, and Manchester City was seeking to sign him in the summer of 2021.
