The meteorite, elegantly named SAR2667, was regarding 1m in diameter and disintegrated safely in the atmosphere. It has been observed in Great Britain but also in France and Belgium. Around 4 a.m., the object entered the atmosphere at a speed of 17 km per second causing a blinding green flash of light.
It is an impressive phenomenon but not exceptional since, each year, approximately 2 tons of “extraterrestrial” debris fall on Earth. What hinders their observation is that they can fall during the day, and in this case the sunlight acts as a screen. But often, they fall in the open sea and therefore, far from any observer, which is logical since our planet is mainly covered with water.
