Kollam: A worker died following the concrete of a building under construction collapsed in Chavara. Nisar, a native of Panmana Kolam, died. The incident happened near Chavara Panmana Vaduthala Sarita Junction.
Nisar and another worker were trapped under the concrete. The rescue operation was carried out by the fire brigade and the police. Although one person was rescued, Nisar’s life was lost by the time he was brought out. The body has been shifted to the district hospital. The non-state worker who was rescued has been admitted to the hospital.

A fortnight ago, the news broke that the concrete had collapsed. While demolishing the concrete slab, the concrete layer was shaken. Those who were on top ran away, but the concrete fell on Nisar and the non-state worker who were standing below.
In another accident in Thrissur today, a native of Bihar died following falling into a huge concrete mixing machine. Varmanand Kumar (19) died. The accident took place yesterday morning at a plant set up in Velayanadu for the construction of Kodungallur-Kurkancherry concrete road. Varmanand Kumar died.
