According to press reports, a Russian parliament member who made a “strange and sarcastic move” while watching a speech by President Vladimir Putin will be subject to “punishment”, following his behavior was described as provocative, while military operations in neighboring Ukraine entered their second year.
The Russian deputy appeared with noodles on his ear while he was sitting at the desk watching Putin’s recent State of the Union speech.
The representative most likely resorted to this movement, because it symbolizes accusing the other who speaks of lying, as there is a common saying that is “Don’t hang noodles on my ears,” that is, “Don’t lie to me.”
The Russian Communist Party vowed to punish deputy Mikhail Abdalkin, a representative of the Samara region in the State Duma.
The movement made by the deputy was interpreted as a “mockery” of President Putin, who was talking regarding the war in Ukraine and confrontation with the West.
In the text attached to the video, the Russian deputy wrote, “I fully support and agree with everything. Great speech, I haven’t heard anything like it in 23 years. I was amazingly surprised.”
And this speech sounded closer to irony, even if it seemed like admiration on the surface.
On Thursday, Russian Communist Party spokesman Alexander Yushchenko said an investigation would be opened following the deputy’s video was circulated on social platforms.
In the union’s speech, Putin sought to be reassured regarding Russia’s performance in military operations, despite some observers talking regarding stumbling and not achieving the goals that were set at the beginning.
The move of the Russian deputy was seen as an indication of the discontent among the political elite in Russia, regarding the war that led to the imposition of unprecedented Western sanctions on Moscow.
