Here’s how to protect yourself from a headache when fasting in Ramadan

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — With the start of the month of Ramadan, many people may suffer from headaches due to refraining from eating and drinking.

The sudden cessation of caffeine and smoking may cause headaches during the fasting period. You can avoid headaches by gradually reducing your daily caffeine intake and smoking.

And the Saudi Ministry of Health published a set of tips that must be followed when fasting, in order to avoid headaches. These tips include the following:

  • Avoid mental and physical stress.
  • Drink enough fluids.
  • Do exercise regularly.
  • Eat a healthy diet.
  • Get enough sleep.
