At the end of 2022, Resident Evil fans noticed that the original Resident Evil 4 had been renamed. In 2023, the RE4 remake was released and the original was renamed once more.
After the first name change, the original Resident Evil 4 became rresident evil 4 (2005). Indicating the year of release seemed logical, since the remake is simply called Resident Evil 4 – this way confusion might be avoided. The spelling of the name resident evil 4 with small letters raised some questions in the community.
With the release of the Resident Evil 4 remake, Capcom decided to revise the name of the original.
Now on Steam, the original game is called Resident Evil 4 (2005), the capital letters are back.
