STOCKHOLM – Global military spending continued to rise last year, this time by 3.7 percent to a new high of $2.24 trillion. In Europe there was the strongest increase in at least 30 years. The primary cause was the Ukraine war, but also the tensions in the East Asian region. This is according to new data published by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) on Monday.
