New Delhi:Avinash Sable and Parul Choudhary broke the Indian national record in the 5000m race in men’s and women’s categories. The new times were set in both categories at the athletic meet held in California, USA.
In the men’s 5000m, Avinash Sable broke his own 5000m record with a time of 13 minutes 19.30 seconds. The previous record was 13:25.65. Avinash finished 12th in the meet which was held on Sunday morning.
In the women’s category, Parul Choudhary clocked 15 minutes 10.35 seconds, surpassing the record (15:15.89) set by Malayalee Preeja Sreedharan at the 2010 Gangshu Asian Games. Parul finished ninth.
