25 years of the ECB: An anniversary in difficult times

The European Central Bank (ECB) turns 25 tomorrow, Thursday. The primary task of the currency guardians is to ensure price stability. But recently, inflation has gotten out of control. In April it was seven percent in the euro zone and even 9.7 percent in Austria. The goal is two percent. After years of zero and negative interest rates, the ECB increased the key interest rate from zero to 3.75 percent in just ten months.
