How the NATO exercise “Air Defender” affects air traffic – travel news

Under the martial name “Air Defender”, the largest air operations training session in NATO’s almost 75-year history will take place in German airspace from June 12 to 23. “‘Air Defender 2023’ is intended to serve as a challenging exercise scenario with air warfare operations for friendly and allied air forces,” the German Bundeswehr explained. “This project stems from a purely defensive training intention”. You want to train and demonstrate responsiveness and collective strength in the air. Probably a clear signal to Russia. Around 10,000 soldiers will be deployed in the NATO exercise – with 250 military aircraft, the majority of them with 100 from the USA and 70 from Germany. Low-level flights up to a height of 330 meters are planned. Around 25 nations are taking part in the exercise.
