Hong Kong/Beijing – Ahead of the 34th anniversary of the bloody crackdown on pro-democracy protests in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, Hong Kong police have arrested several activists who wanted to commemorate the dark chapter of Chinese history. According to the police, eight people were arrested on Saturday for “seditious actions” or disturbing public order. Public commemoration was not allowed in the Chinese Special Administrative Region. The police had warned in advance of “illegal actions”.
