Just arrived in New York as the NBA Draft is fast approaching, Victor Wembanyama is already making public appearances. He notably appeared in JJ Redick’s podcast to talk regarding his ambitions, his past, his future, all while sharing some nice anecdotes.
This is perhaps the action that most symbolizes the alien side of Victor Wembanyama: on April 2, the French phenomenon dropped a tap dunk following missing… a 3-point shot. Yes, a putback on his own shot from the parking lot is humanly possible. Unless Wemby isn’t human, which is also possible.
How did Wembanyama just putback his OWN three point shot?!?pic.twitter.com/jlGs6QUSwa

This action obviously ignited Twitter and further heightened the huge hype surrounding “the best prospect in history”.
On the JJ Redick PodcastWemby returned to this incredible sequence (35th minute) by releasing a very nice anecdote.
“Three years ago, when I was at Nanterre, I had two teammates talking and laughing while looking at me. I went to see them, and they said to me, ‘I bet 1,000 balls with him that one day during your career, you will take a 3-pointer, miss it, and perform a tap dunk. And I did this year. It wasn’t premeditated, it was just natural.
Two days following the game, I called one of my former teammates to tell him that this is it, it happened, and that he had just won 1,000 balls.
We don’t know which player from Nanterre benefited from Victor Wembanyama’s madness that evening on the Monaco floor, but he can thank Wemby for this little bonus which must have made him happy.
Moral of the story: do not hesitate to put a coin on Victor, even to accomplish the craziest things.
