Discover the Crypto-Friendly Capital of Slovenia: Ljubljana – A Hidden Gem in Europe

When it comes to crypto-friendly European countries and even more cities, Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, comes up quite often. Slovenia has been considered independent since 1991 and since then it can be referred to as an economic success story, especially as it otherwise has barely 2 million inhabitants. There is also a lot of crypto activity in the capital of the country, which also neighbors Hungary. Of course, it cannot be measured by a London or Hong Kong standard, but it stands out among European capitals. Ljubljana is definitely a recommended destination for (also) a crypto-fanatic. Quite a few non-profit crypto organizations operate in Ljubljana, such as the Blockchain Alliance Europe or the Slovenia Bitcoin ASsociation, but there are also profit-oriented companies operating here, such as Eligma, which became known as GoCrypto. GoCrypto aims to make crypto payments easier for commercial businesses. According to a 2022 survey, they will be successful anyway, as hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars will accept crypto payments in the Slovenian capital. It is interesting that one of GoCrypto’s important partners in Ljubljana is the BTC Company, which, despite its name, is not a crypto company, but a property manager. The BTC City shopping center operated by him has always been the number one test subject for GoCrypto’s payment systems. In response to a journalist’s question, the CEO of GoCrypto said that although he might have moved to huge crypto centers like Hong Kong or London, he didn’t, because he thinks the standard of living in Slovenia is particularly good. Think regarding it, life expectancy is higher in the country than in the United States. Since 2004, members of the European Union and nearly 80% of the country’s population also speak English. In addition to the many positives, there is also a sore point for a crypto nomad. According to data from Nomadlist.com, living in the frequented parts of Ljubljana is quite expensive, say, when compared to nearby Belgrade. On the other hand, in the neighborhoods on the edge of the city, everyday life can be experienced at an affordable price. For those who have not yet visited the country as a Hungarian, we can only recommend that they take a tour.
