Possible WWII Bomb Found in Eschweiler: Evacuation Preparations and Drilling Update

The suspicion of a bomb was raised when flood damage in the area of ​​the vocational college on August-Thyssen-Strasse was being repaired. Aerial photos were taken for this – and the pictures showed something that might possibly be a dud bomb from World War II: a so-called suspect point.

All clear following drilling

From Wednesday morning to Thursday noon, the explosive ordnance disposal service drilled and searched for a possible dud at the suspected point, down to the bottom of the former Inde riverbed. Special equipment was also used. Result of persistent drilling: no bomb found. Relief for the authorities and local residents.
