Latest Updates on the Casablanca Stock Exchange: MASI, MASI.20, and International Indices

The Casablanca Stock Exchange closed in the red on Friday, its main index, the MASI, losing 0.4% to 11,575.81 points (pts).

The MASI.20, an index comprising the 20 most liquid stocks, fell by 0.47% to 938.35 pts.

Regarding the MASI Mid and Small Cap, thematic index which calculates the price performance of small and medium-sized companies listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange, rose by 0.03% to 928.75 points (pts), when the MASI.ESG, index of companies with the best ESG rating, as published by Moody’s ESG Solutions, lost 0.47% to 865.89 pts.

At the international level, the FTSE CSE Morocco 15, made up of the 15 main securities of the Casablanca Stock Exchange, classified by market capitalization, and the FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid, a benchmark index which traces the performance of all the liquid securities of the Stock Exchange , lost 0.42% to 10,681.12 pts and 0.5% to 9,684.39 pts respectively.

At the sector level, the leisure and hotel index recorded the strongest increase (+3.5%), followed by the engineering and industrial capital goods index (+2.79%), and the pharmaceutical index (+2.98%).

The oil and gas index showed the largest drop (-1.53%), followed by that of building and construction materials (-1.18%), and real estate participation and development (-0, 9%).

The overall volume of trade was 78.45 million dirhams (MDH) made on the Central Market (Shares) and dominated by transactions involving Sodep-Marsa Maroc (9.95 MDH), Bcp (7.85 MDH) and Attijariwafa Bank (7.67 MDH). Market capitalization stood, for its part, at nearly 598.91 billion dirhams (MMDH).

Individually, Stroc Industrie (+6% to 34.46 dirhams (DH)), Maghrebail (+3.99% to 925.5 DH), Ib Maroc.Com (+3.95% to 25 DH), Risma (+3.5% to 175.95 DH) and Sothema (+3.31% to 1,219 DH) achieved the highest increases.

On the other hand, the biggest drops were posted by Jet Contractors (-2.65% to 220 DH), TotalEnergies Marketing Morocco (-2.32% to 1,265 DH), Bmci (-1.77% to 450 DH), Rebab Company (-1.71% to 91.9 DH) and Douja Prom Addoha (-1.58% to 10.61 DH).
