From July 19 to 22, the best players on the international 3×3 circuit will perform at Place des Quinconces as part of the Challenger and the Women’s Series in Bordeaux.
Bordeaux in 3×3 mode for 4 days. The Gironde capital is hosting the Challenger and the Women’s Series from July 19 to 22, representing the best men and women in the discipline.
“This is our flagship event. This is the highest level of competition that we can organize to date, the best we can find in 3×3 basketball, supports the president of the Ligue Nouvelle Aquitaine, Pierre Dufau, in South West. Place des Quinconces is the perfect place dedicated to this event”.
Top flight competitions
The Challenger is an international tournament made up of private teams. They are looking for a maximum of points to hope to qualify for the Cebu Masters (Philippines) which will take place on September 23 and 24. “You also have to win some for the qualification for the Olympic Games. The French men’s team is looking for points. We should have the professional team of the Federation with Alex Vialaret in particular who should be in Bordeaux to try to win this Challenger”, adds the president of the League.
As for the Women’s Series, this is the tournament bringing together the best women’s national federations. “We should find Spain, Canada, Australia, France…”, he lists. The competing teams aim to reach the final which will take place on September 16 and 17 in Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia. France currently occupies fourth place in the Women’s Series standings before competing in the Bordeaux stage, the twelfth on the circuit.
Thanks to this type of event, 3×3 basketball takes on light, shines even stronger and attracts more. “We feel on our scale that there is renewed motivation for this discipline, says Pierre Dufau. We have more and more teams that are starting to stick to organized competitions, that are really involved. We realize that there are a lot of young people who are interested in it, there is a real momentum for 3×3”. He is in no danger of becoming empty.
