In the United States, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced that another 191,000 people will be removed from the state’s electoral rolls, despite being registered as voters. The measure is aimed at citizens considered “inactive” because they have not been able to deliver the electoral material sent by mail, as well as those who have not officially notified a change of address. Kendra Cotton, director of the New Georgia Project Action Fund, stated in this regard: “[El estado de] Georgia is well known for its many creative attempts to restrict voter turnout. Voting is a right. If someone decides not to exercise that right, it does not mean that they lose it.
Meanwhile, the Alabama state Legislature this week approved a new congressional redistricting that still does not include a second majority-black congressional district, as ordered by the US Supreme Court last month.
