It’s not just in the NBA that signings are increasing in the off-season, in France too! After the arrival of Kemba Walker in Monaco, it is another former player of the Great League who arrives in the LNB in the person of Joël Ayayi, who has signed up with Nanterre for a season.
Nanterre 92 has just completed its summer recruitment by signing Joël Ayayi. The French rear, who has spent the last six years in the United States, will play for the first time in the French Championship. It’s a nice move from the Greens, who continue to strengthen with the aim of playing the Playoffs next season.
Welcome @joel_ayayi ! ????

Trained at the Pôle France, Joël Ayayi has made a name for himself in the NCAA under the jersey of the Gonzaga Bulldogs, which he joined at just 17 years old. After three seasons and a final of the American university championship, he appeared in the 2021 Draft. Unselected, he then signed up with the Washington Wizards via a two-way contract which allowed him to make seven appearances in the NBA.
The Frenchman spent the 2022-23 season in the G-League with the Lakeland Magic (team affiliated with the Orlando Magic NBA franchise). He played 31 games there averaging 7.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals on 51.9% shooting. Finally, Ayayi wore the colors of Memphis during the Summer League 2023, without succeeding in winning.
At 23, he therefore decided to put his American adventure on hold and find a real role in a French team. He was also recently part of the France Select Team who faced Armenia twice last June.
