Description

Designed by Pierre-Louis Faloci and completed in 2000, it is the last church to have been built in France in the 20th century. It was consecrated on September 16, 2000 by Jean-Marie Lustiger.

It contrasts with the surrounding buildings by the red (The color red responds to different definitions, depending on the chromatic system usedโ€ฆ) of its bricks and by the public garden on which it overlooks, the James-Joyce garden, which nevertheless creates at the same time (Time is a concept developed by human beings to apprehendโ€ฆ) a coherence with the park (A Park is an enclosed natural land,[1] formed of woods or meadows, in which wereโ€ฆ) interior of the nearby Franรงois-Mitterrand Library.

Its interior is a tribute to the chapel Notre-Dame-du-Haut de Ronchamp (The Notre-Dame-du-Haut chapel, built on the hill of Bourlรฉmont in Ronchamp inโ€ฆ), designed by Le Corbusier (Charles-ร‰douard Jeanneret-Gris, born October 6, 1887 in La Chaux-de-Fonds,โ€ฆ).
