Twenty-eight people got stuck on the Boomerang roller coaster at Bellewaerde Park in Ypres on Saturday night. The occupants of the attraction were evacuated one by one and were able to reach the mainland via the stairs along the rails, said park spokesman Filip Van Dorpe.
The roller coaster train stopped on the way up. “Next to the ramp, there are stairs through which the occupants were evacuated one by one,” the spokesperson explained.
The device will now be checked. “After a few test laps, visitors will normally be able to get back on board the Boomerang this evening,” said the spokesperson.
Bellewaerde Park is open until 22:00.
