Joris Candy Maker Faces Closure Over Noise Complaints in Brussels

2023-08-14 07:19:28

Candy maker Joris is threatened with closure due to noise complaints, reports the outlet BRUZZ.

Since 1938, the factory has been producing sweets on Rue Grand-Bigard in Berchem-Saint-Agathe, Brussels. The company has made a name for itself in particular for its authentic candies in the shape of teddy bears or sweet cherries traditionally prepared in copper cauldrons.

Last Wednesday, a notice of default was sent to the company for the third time. Repeated complaints for noise threaten the future of the manufacturer, which risks a fine of 125,000 euros and the cessation of its activities. The main reason is a couple of residents complaining regarding the noise pollution that the plant would cause.

This is the third time the candy maker has received such a complaint. The first dates from two years ago.
