From September 1, De Lijn will cut journeys throughout Flanders structurally in response to a staff shortage. The busiest lines and school services are preserved, announced the Flemish public transport company.
This adaptation will have limited consequences and only concerns 0.75% of all its journeys, assures De Lijn for whom this measure is necessary to guarantee a reliable service.
“Finding new drivers and technicians is a huge challenge, especially in regions where competition is fierce,” it says.
On the union side, the Christian union ACV Openbare Diensten notes rather a lack of available buses.
