South Jeolla’s Pride: Ahn Se-young Wins Gold at World Badminton Championships

[뉴스깜]Reporter Kim Pil-soo = Ahn Se-young from Naju, Jeollanam-do returned home with a gold medal in the women’s singles at the 2023 World Individual Badminton Championships held in Copenhagen, Denmark.

It is the first time that a Korean player has won the singles event at the World Championships, which began in 1977.

Ahn Se-young started learning badminton in earnest following discovering her talent while working at a badminton club following her father, who was the secretary general of the Naju City Sports Association.

On the 29th, Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok sent a congratulatory message to Ahn Se-young with the hearts of the people of Jeollanam-do.

Governor Kim Young-rok said, “I sincerely congratulate the 2 million South Jeolla residents on winning the women’s singles at the World Badminton Championships, the first of its kind in Korea.” told

On the other hand, Jeonnam-do is actively supporting the development of badminton events and sports for residents of the province by hosting various competitions, including the ‘2021-2023 Korea Open World Tour Badminton World Championship’.
