Algiers/Niamey – After the military coup in Niger, Algeria announced an initiative to resolve the conflict. This provides for a six-month transitional period led by a civilian, Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf said on Tuesday. In addition, Algeria would seek a UN conference to restore constitutional order, propose certain guarantees for all parties involved and host a conference on development in the Sahel.
