The regulars of the Dakar found on their way, during the fourth stage of the Desafio Ruta 40 on Thursday, the formidable dunes of Fiambala in Argentina. It was Nasser al-Attiyah who came out of it the best and who won. The Toyota driver thus increased his overall lead before the closing stage on Friday: he has a 15’42” lead over the Hilux of Argentinian Yacopini and 20’26” over that of Saudi Al- Rajhi.
On the motorcycle side, Luciano Benavides (Husqvarna) was the fastest. Although he is still overtaken by the Spaniard Schareina (non-championship) in the general classification of the event, the Argentinian is on the way to signing the right operation since he should, in the event of a final victory, dislodge Toby Price (KTM ) from the lead in the World Championship before the last event, the Rally of Morocco.
