The First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, has tested positive for COVID-19, the White House announced, adding that President Joe Biden has meanwhile tested negative.
The 72-year-old first lady has only mild symptoms, her office said, and will stay at the couple’s home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Jill Biden had already tested positive for COVID-19 a year ago.
President Biden, 80, took a drug test Monday night, which came back negative, the White House said, adding that he will continue regular testing and monitor for symptoms.
The United States has seen an increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in recent weeks.
