According to the new regulations of the renovated Neptunium swimming pool, inaugurated on Saturday following six years of closure due to major work, the burkini is now authorized in order to allow each and every citizen to benefit from the facilities.

The regulations indicate that “wearing swimwear strictly reserved for this use is obligatory. » And specifies: “Only classic swimsuits are authorized, as well as wetsuits dedicated to swimming, partially or completely covering the body”.

For Thomas Eraly, the Ecolo Sports alderman in Schaerbeek, the intention of the municipal authorities is to “allow all people to do sport and physical activity. Nothing should be a barrier to this. As long as you wear suitable clothing for swimming: come swim! This is the main message. We know well what playing a sport means in terms of health, mental and psychological well-being. We don’t want to slow anyone down in our community. This is our leitmotif,” reports RTBF.
