Already with hers first steps On the big show stage, Doja Cat made it clear that she puts rap and singing on an equal footing – and both at a high level! The artist with her hometown of Los Angeles is now openly questioning the strong pop side of her first albums (produced by the very questionable Dr. Luke) – and is also openly taking on hardcore fans who want to control her appearance and the music.
When she is accused of obsession and satanism because of this, Doja Cat apparently takes this as an incentive to prove to all of us how obsessed and satanic she really is – and she sets later one more thing:
Despite the dark overtones in the video and the I-don’t-let-you-tell-me-Attitude in the text is Paint The Town Red a really catchy pop song – and rightly a hit for the late summer of 2023. The catchy sample of the song of the century also ensures this Walk On Bywith which Dionne Warwick (and with her the songwriting team Burt Bacharach & Hal Ashby) founded her great career.
On the third album, which will be released on Friday Scarlett will Doja Cat it Rap take center stage – and return to their roots in underground hip hop. Even if you put it on Hot Pink and Planet Her hasn’t always heard: The rapper took her first steps alongside Busdriver and Ill Camille in small clubs in LA and, according to her own statements, preferred listening to Little Brother and Homeboy Sandman.
About this underground connection, the brilliant pop song Paint The Town Red and Doja’s demons are among other things in the latest episode of the FM4 HipHop reading group. With Natalie Brunner, Mahdi Rahimi, yours truly – and the big comeback of founding member Ole Weinreich!
