Konkuk University Hospital announced that Professor Jeon Hong-jun of the Department of Psychiatry won an academic award at the 60th Korean Society of Sleep Medicine Fall Conference held on the 8th of last month.
The Korean Society of Sleep Medicine has been selecting academic award winners for their academic achievements in sleep medicine and chronobiology over the past three years. Professor Jeon Hong-jun has published 16 sleep medicine-related papers in major academic journals over the past three years, including ‘The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on sleep-related problems in adults and the elderly: an information epidemiology study using Internet search volume data’. He was honored with an award in recognition of his research achievements.
Professor Jeon Hong-jun emphasized, “Unlike other general medical fields, sleep medicine does not focus on specific body organs but includes all symptoms and diseases related to sleep, so it is a field in which expertise is very important.”
He then expressed his determination, saying, “Compared to major medical and surgical diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and infectious diseases, research is still lacking, but as the number of patients visiting hospitals with sleep-related diseases is increasing, we will continue to focus on treatment and research.”
